Chrome Installation
Confirm Permissions
Review the requested permissions and click Add extension.ChainGuard requires:
Read and change your data on all websites— Required for URL scanningDisplay notifications— For security alerts
Brave Installation
Brave users can install directly from Chrome Web Store:Brave Shields and ChainGuard work together. ChainGuard adds Web3-specific protection that Brave Shields does not cover.
Edge Installation
Enable Chrome Extensions
In Edge, navigate to:Enable Allow extensions from other stores in the left sidebar.
Opera Installation
Opera supports Chrome extensions through the Install Chrome Extensions add-on:Install Chrome Extension Support
Visit the Opera Add-ons page and install Install Chrome Extensions.
Permissions Explained
ChainGuard requests minimal permissions for maximum security:activeTab: Scan the current page URL. Data accessed: URL only, no content.storage: Save user preferences. Data accessed: Local config only.notifications: Send security alerts. Data accessed: None.webRequest: Intercept suspicious requests. Data accessed: URL patterns only.
Verification
After installation, verify ChainGuard is working:- Click the ChainGuard icon in your toolbar
- You should see the dashboard with current page analysis
- Navigate to
https://app.uniswap.org— should show green (safe) - The extension icon should display a checkmark
Troubleshooting
- Icon not visible: Click the puzzle icon and pin ChainGuard.
- Extension disabled: Go to
chrome://extensions/and enable it. - Not scanning pages: Refresh the page or reinstall the extension.
- Conflicts with other extensions: Disable other security extensions temporarily.
Updating
ChainGuard updates automatically through your browser’s extension system. To manually check for updates:Major updates may require re-granting permissions. You’ll see a notification when this happens.
Uninstallation
To remove ChainGuard:- Right-click the ChainGuard icon
- Select Remove from Chrome (or your browser)
- Confirm removal
